Accountability Thread
Apr. 19th, 2019 07:32 pmOr, kind of an update post? But mostly this is a logging thing for me + a way to break some of the radio silence on my end.
Into the Storm:
Static on the Line:
Six Sided Die Cut In Half:
Other Projects:
Into the Storm:
- - Currently Unnamed Somnophilia Sidestory: something like 60% done? I'm on the fence about posting this one but if I do it's probably going to be sometime in late May/early June. We'll see.
- Hurricane: Chaptered, Aiden and Jordi teaming up with the DedSec kids. About 75% done, but I'm doing it as part of WIP Big Bang, so that's definitely not getting posted until the event ends.
- Rough Seas: 15% done. Roughly. I have the first chapter done, and sections of the other ones, but I need to sit down and really grind out all the location research I need to do for this. The outline and story beats are pretty firmly set in stone though, so it's mostly a matter of logistics.
Static on the Line:
- Act 2 is like.... almost completely done? I want to get over the hump of Act 3 before I send this off to my beta though, because I'm still waffling on which acts certain scenes end up in.
I also want to replay a section of the game that's RIGHT AT THE FUCKING MIDDLE for this and the first third of Act 3 so that might... have to wait until after school's out and I'm done with a couple other projects I'm obliged to do.
It's a little frustrating because I've had Act 2 mostly written for months now, but sitting down to do an editing pass and finish up the last bit hasn't happened.
Six Sided Die Cut In Half:
- Unposted, previously unnamed WIP, but the working title was "Mamma Mia (Here We Kidfic Again)" if that tells you anything. :P
I have... roughly 9 chapters of this done (it was the shorter chaptered fic I mentioned in the ending notes of Undertow) but I have planning up past chapter 14; ideally, I want a buffer of about 12 chapters before I start posting it, because I'm thinking a regular semi-monthly posting schedule. Chapters would be more regular but also shorter, 2-3k at most probably.
I'm also working out a structure aspect with it, which means maybe building up even more of a buffer than intended, depending on certain things I still have to write. So this is backburner, but hopefully I can start posting it by fall.
Other Projects:
- Gift Fic: Need to figure out an end point for this and finish it up. I do want to post it, eventually, but cleaning up is kind of important here.
Post-Apoc Fic: Thinking I'm going to give this the Still Waters/Rough Seas treatment and try to finish it up before going back and editing it for posting. Sequel is already partially outlined, which should tell you something about how enamored with this thing I am already.
I'm also going to have to clean up my absolute MESS of worldbuilding notes for this thing and do a primer on it like I did for SOTL; there's a lot of background worldbuilding assumptions that don't get stated in narrative, and while I like to think I'm a good enough author to weave those in seamlessly, I'm not banking on it lmao.
Misc. Ficlets: Mostly a matter of cleaning up/finishing up/scrapping these. Unconnected PWP for the most part, because sometimes that's all you do in class. I'll figure it out.

[Part I]
The first portion of this is going to focus somewhat on sexual mores beyond the nitty gritty of the last post, but we'll get into the fun stuff (i.e., scent marking) too.

If you're reading this and some of it sounds eerily familiar, it's probably because you saw this back when I was first hashing out the worldbuilding for this; some of it's going to be cribbed directly from those notes, while the rest is a firming and cleaning up of it.
With that in mind:
One of the primary conceits in any a/b/o setting is generally a) that there is some overarching reason for this triadic split and b) that this has societal impacts that may or may not be compounded by sexism and homophobia-lite. The reason can be [trainwreck biology noises] or [literally magic for no reason] and for me, personally, 'it's magic so shut up about it' meshes far better than trying to work out the biological mechanisms of buttbabies. Especially when those buttbabies are not actually justifiable from an evolutionary standpoint, and a Western model of gender absolutely isn't justifiable with several thousands of years of weight behind a triadic notion of reproduction and sexual behavior.
(And you may have noticed, I really do not like the 'secondary gender' wording of most a/b/o. We'll get into that later.)
So, all that in mind, why do the rank dynamics of alpha-beta-omega exist in SotL? It's magic, fuck you is why.
But it's also a little more complicated than that.

Into The Storm
Dec. 11th, 2018 06:38 pmFor the sake of having a good reference post for all my fic (of this series...) I'm going ahead and making this now, even with Undertow unfinished. I'll be updating it as installments are plugged in and chaptered fics are finished, but this should serve as a quick and dirty roundup for all of them.
The whole series is here on AO3. On the chaptered fic, some chapters have additional warnings in the comments beforehand.
